Jeff Lorber - Keyboard Superstar

Episode Summary

Jeff Lorber is a GRAMMY winning keyboard artist, composer, producer, programmer and session player. He's worked with everyone from El DeBarge to U2, and is also the leader of Jeff Lorber Fusion. We talk about his formative years, his time in Boston (which overlaps with me) and in Portland, his big break, and his multi-faceted career. And then we do a Songfest!

Episode Notes

Jeff Lorber has been a legend in music since the 1970s when he formed the Jeff Lorber Fusion, a pioneer in jazz fusion music. In the second half of this episode Jeff and Robert do a Songfest featuring a number of recordings that Jeff played on.

KEY TAKEAWAYS: Everyone gets opportunities in their lives. Be ready to take advantage of your opportunities when they appear. Always be prepared.

Robert’s featured song in this episode is “Spring Dance” from the Project Grand Slam album of the same name. It’s a jazz fusion song that Robert feels has a Jeff Lorber type vibe.
