Episode Notes

Robert's guest in this episode is Mindi Abair, two-time GRAMMY nominated Saxophone Star, Singer and Composer!

Robert's song in this episode: "Metro Shuffle ft. Mindi Abair" from The PGS Experience. Robert's band, Project Grand Slam, had the pleasure of opening for Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers on two occasions at B.B. King's in NYC. Robert then invited Mindi to guest on two songs he wrote for the PGS album The PGS Experience.

Mindi Abair is a two-time GRAMMY nominated all-star saxophonist/singer/composer. She was the featured saxophonist on American Idol, she has sat in with Paul Shaffer on The Late Show and with The Roots on The Tonight Show. She has twelve #1 radio hits, and two #1 spots on Billboard. In 2018 she won 8 Independent Blues Awards including Artist of the Year. In 2019 she won the LA Critics Award for Best Holiday Album. And in 2019, 2020, and 2021 she was nominated by the Blues Music Awards as a Best Instrumentalist. This is exhausting Mindi! She is shortly releasing “The Best Of Mindi Abair”, a 19-song collection of her greatest hits, including her brand-new song “April.” On top of all this she’s a successful businesswoman, having launched a Wine Company in 2019. And also a successful author having written the book “How To Play Madison Square Garden” (which I bought and read). Mindi has toured and/or recorded with a Who’s Who in the music business including: Aerosmith, Joe Bonamassa, Smokey Robinson, Gregg Allman, Adam Sandler, Duran Duran, Dave Koz and the Backstreet Boys. In 2017, and then again in 2018, Mindi graciously allowed my band, Project Grand Slam, to open for her at B.B. King’s in NYC.
